+gurlio We’d be honored to help you straighten your smile. Find out if it’s right for you:
They stink so bad that the odor doesn’t go away even with the cleaning crystal. It’s mainly on the 4 ends of the trays. How can I get rid of the odor.
+Joe Mthief Sorry to hear that. Please share your concerns with your dentist or ortho. He/She will be able to help!
I just got my first set of Invisalign alligners yesterday and I cleaned them with Colgate Advanced Whitening Toothpaste and my toothbrush. Is that okay?
Hi Bonnie!
The best way to clean your INVISALIGN® Aligners isto use INVISALIGN® Cleaning Crystals, available for order at
. You can also clean your INVISALIGN® Aligners by brushing
them with a small amount of mild toothpaste and water. Be sure that each
Aligner is rinsed thoroughly with water after each cleaning. We do recommend
using the Cleaning Crystals at least once a week. Make sure not to use denture
cleaners or mouthwash.
NO, tooth paste is abrasive and will scratch the aligners which will make them cloudy.
@Invisalign Any idea why orthos seem to be advising against tooth paste and more towards denture cleaner?
I got my first tray last week and it doesn’t hurt that bad at all. I had slight soreness on the molars the first few days. Isn’t supposed to hurt to work right? Please reply.
Hi Jenifer,
Glad to hear you aren’t in pain! Everyone’s experience is different. If you are concerned, please check in with your ortho or dentist.
Hi Saifuddin,
The cost of Invisalign® treatment varies because each case is different, and treatment plans are customized for every individual. Your orthodontist or dentist will set his/her own price for the treatment and his/her expertise. The cost is usually comparable to the cost of traditional braces. Learn more at .
I have used the crystal cleaning method once–they don’t seem to work for me. I think the smell comes from plaque formation on the trays. So then I tried a toothbrush with soft, liquid hand soap. I would brush both the inside and outside of the trays. I do this in the morning after breakfast and at night after dinner. At work, at lunch time, I just rinse as well as I can. Never an odour. Any micro-damage you might have done to the trays by brushing with soap is not noticeable, and besides you’d swap them out after one or two weeks anyway.
I just got my first trays today and my process should be over in about 10 months! I’m SO excited!!! ❤❤❤ instead of having pain, my teeth itch!!! 😂
Please remove your Invisalign® clear aligners and call your ortho or dentist so they can assess the situation. It is important for us to understand more about what is happening. Can you please provide your contact information through our secure online form at so we can follow up with you? Thank you.
Invisalign I didn’t actually expect a reply! I’m not having the itchy feeling anymore. My mouth is just incredibly weird. Thank you for the concern, though! ❤
Hi, Thank you for your interest in Invisalign® treatment! The best way to get started is to consult with an Invisalign-trained doctor. Please use our Smile Concierge Team to set up an appointment with a doctor in your area:
Hello my orthodontist said I shouldn’t use toothpaste and a toothbrush. People use a mouthwash or have other ways to clean it. With just using water to clean aligners I noticed how I got all of plaque on it. Using toothbrush and paste is it safe?
Yes, mild toothpaste is safe to use! Be sure to rinse your Invisalign® clear aligners thoroughly after cleaning and never use hot water as this can cause the plastic to warp.
I always use my toothbrush and paste. Every time I put them back in my mouth.
It was a great watch. However, I would mention that during Google search I found this helpful blog
Change the name of the video as it tells you nothing of how to use the cleaning crystals. Wasteful.
This camera doesn’t focus on what she is doing with her braces. It focuses on her face or the graphics on the screen. I think they could make a video with more focus on the tray itself.
Its funny how these have no little attachments to them THEY RE NOT INVISABLE so if thats the only reason your not getting braces then get braces the pain is horrible the first few days of a new tray which you may change every week or two weeks.
Depending on your specific treatment, your doctor may need to add small attachments to help your Invisalign® clear aligners grip the teeth more firmly. In addition, attachments also aid with specific tooth movement. To make sure they are not noticeable, ask your doctor to use the Invisalign attachment kit.
I got hooks for my invisalign. I’m supposed to wear my rubberbands on the left side during the day and on the right side at night, but one of my hooks fell off on the right side can I still wear them on the left side until I see someone to get the hook replaced? Or do I stop the rubberband wear until I get that hook replaced? Please help.
I have done all the recommend cleaning and it still smells. Now using cleaning crystals and other products to help with the small.
I tried all different cleaning items on my liners the best one was it kept so clean and it’s so easy to use !!! Check it out the best cleaner ever OAP
People will most definitely see that you’re wearing aligners lol It just won’t be as obvious as braces
@Antonio Rodriguez They do notice. They’re really shiny and you can see the saliva build up. They only don’t notice if you’re talking from a distance. But if you’re having a regular face to face conversation where the person is a meter or less in proximity of you then its definitely noticeable.
No one noticed the aligners, but they noticed a change in the way i spoke, so they asked me why I was talking funny 😂😂😂
Lol this shit is funny. The cleaning crystals don’t work and brushing them with toothpaste is too abrasive. My ortho recommended “Dental Duty” which is a retainer and denture cleaning tablets. I just follow the instructions on the box then lightly brush them with a soft toothbrush. My trays are as clean as when I got them and I don’t have scratches anymore.
How are you supposed to use the cleaning crystals? I am not finding anything online. I looked up the cleaning crystals ingredients and they seem to not be safe so…wtf are they selling (smells like chlorine???)
We have Instructions for Use that we can email to you. Please send us your email address and we will send it over.
Luca Stuccio well, then they aren’t certified. They might have meant that you can drink water with them in, but you can’t eat or drink anything other than water with your aligners inserted.
Can you please do a video using the cleaning crystals. I want to know: how often should you use them?
Hi Andrea, We recommend using the cleaning crystals at least once a week; however, you may adjust this frequency as needed. And thanks for the video suggestion—we’ll forward your feedback to the appropriate team.
before anyone asks, to use the cleaning crystals take a mug or a cup and fill it with enough lukewarm water to submerge your aligners. brush off any food particles on your aligners beforehand then add a packet of the crystals into the water and place the aligners in for about 15 minutes. once out, rinse the aligners with lukewarm water and brush any excess solution with a wet toothbrush and rinse one final time with lukewarm water, then dry them and insert them back in. I prefer the crystals especially when I’m in a rush. Hope this helps.
Hi Dior, We have not tested dental cleaning tablets with our products, therefore they are not recommended because they may scratch the surface of the aligner.
I use denture cleaner, and dont see any problem using it.. in a matter of fact, feels like to helps clean them well

I had been doing research for a new Dentist and waiting for my husband’s insurance to kick in. I was eating and hit a pit/seed and my tooth hurt, but nothing else. Molar and old filling (more…)
The front office staff were professional and courteous. Marsha, the Hygienist was great, I was nervous when I got there. She made me feel comfortable. Dr. Styles and Dr. Lieu were the best at their profession.
Shelli cleaned my teeth today. As usual, she did a great job! The new office is a work of art. I’ll be back in a few weeks to have my implant placed by Dr Lieu. I have nothing but love for this office and tesm!
This was an experience that I wasn’t expecting but was so grateful for the wonderful care that this amazing staff provided. The problem was identified and taken care of immediately. I loved the energy of this office.
